Birthday Bliss

Wow Wow Wow! What an absolutely fantastic 32nd birthday! Waking up with my beautiful daughter beside me, milky drunk from nursing flashing me her biggest infamous Madi morning smile and rocking on all fours made this the B-E-S-T Bithday EVER as a new mother! This was a big weekend for us, as Madison celebrated her 8 month birthday on Thursday the 25th. My little Madi Cakes is growing up so fast...seems like last week she was just born. So, today I have been quite introspective and soul searching on my past 32 years.........

Thank you Madison for coming into my life and choosing ME to be your mother! You have made my entire birthday week pure bliss. As I watch your unique personality evolve, I see so much of me in you...you are so special and will be one incredible individual one day. You make me and your daddy so proud each and every day. I simply cannot remember a birthday without you:)

We shared great family memories this weekend at the cabin and had an intimate evening celebration with just us 3 complete with a special 'reading' and sushi dinner at my fave restaurant, In The Raw. Of course, Madison got ALL the attention as always from everyone she encountered. LOL I think others can't help themselves from instantly falling in love with this precious little angel of a girl.

OK...Enough of the gushing...for NOW!

Thank you to dear husband, daughter, parents, brother's fam and in-laws for making this day so wonderful. To be surrounded by loving, caring family is the best gift a girl could hope for, and this mamma is fulfilled!

A Case of the Mondays

Awwww, Monday! Today found me in my pajamas almost the ENTIRE day except for when I donned some jeans and a sweatshirt to do the grocery shopping and daily Starbucks run. And then of course, there was that lovely diaper explosion late this afternoon which had me showering and changing into the evenings pajamas. I mean, it is almost 5:oo PM!

Madison chose to sleep until around 11:30 AM today, as she did not go down until midnight last night and decided she needed to nurse almost the entire night. I think I averaged a few hours of sleep, which is pretty darn good! No afternoon meltdown today and she even napped  for an hour and a half. Of course, I had to hold her the entire time, but I did'nt mind catching up on some recorded television. And it gave me an excuse to put off doing the laundry a little longer!

About an hour after waking, last night's Squash kicked in and a bomb went off in Madi's diaper. Poop everywhere...me, her, the floor! So, bath for her, shower for me. Outfit change numero dos for her and tres for me. Then the meltdown bus came to town and a good old nursing soothed Madison into a zen like quietness I have been needing all day so I could post. Now as she wriggles around in my arms bored with the monotony of my typing, I am glad today is almost finished and look forward to Madison's goofy evening performances she provides us with every night. We will see what Tuesday brings us....

Welcome

The day my daughter Madison was born, 8 months ago, I began writing in a journal. I would track the times she would nurse and for how long. I recorded the number of wet/dirty diapers and the times I changed them and when and how long she slept/napped. Being an attached parent, having never been apart from Madison for longer than 3 hours at a time for only a handful of times, I rarely miss a smile, sneeze, laugh, cry, roll, crawl, etc. As she grew I found this way of journaling entirely cumbersome and damn near impossible as her motor skills developed and she began grabbing the pen or eating the pages of the journal. So I decided to start this blog as she allows me to type on the computer as she plays below foot or sits in my lap.

I decided on the title Parenting In My Pajamas, because for the most part of my days, I am in my PJs while Madison is dressed promptly in the mornings complete with matching socks and bows! My hope is to develop this blog as a place to document my daily experiences as a mother and to discuss the real things I face as I raise Madison as well as milestones and just plain old daily 'stuff'. At times, it is smiles and laughs. Other days are filled with meltdowns and diaper explosions.

Any and all comments, experiences, feedback and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.
